obligatory super bowl post

thank GOD the super bowl is over. i don't think many people outside of the city of pittsburgh, my ex-boyfriend (who i swear became a steeler fan to spite me), and those who had money on the game, gave a flying fuck about it. i had the tv on for background noise, hoping to catch a few entertaining commercials, but even those sucked serious ass this year.

to be honest, i haven't been interested in the super bowl since 2003 when i spent a grip of cash to get my ass to san diego only to see the raiders get spanked by the bucs, led by that jerk-off coach (who made a name for himself in oakland & then hung the team out to dry) in super bowl 37. i would've used the roman numerals for 37 but i'm too tired to figure out the combination of Xs, Vs & Is that make up the number. don't judge me.

and yet, i remain a loyal raiders fan because i believe that no matter how shitty your team is doing, you stick by them. i mean, just because the team just fired another head coach, and boy, that warren sapp turned out to be a big freakin' disappointment, and yeah, the raiders could use a new quarterback, that's no reason to jump off the albeit dusty bandwagon that hasn't moved an inch in about three years.

there IS more to life than the post-season.

because really, nothing beats getting up at the crack of dawn and piling into an SUV with your friends & a shitload of booze & food, and heading over to the coliseum just as the gates open to start drinking beer at 8:30 in the morning in a parking lot.

that's the good life.

THAT'S what football's all about.

Of course here in Detroit it was a big hoo-ha, given that it WAS here and all. There was also hoo-ha over Pittsburg and the MVP being a "hometown boy" from Detroit. The city looked nothing like "real" Detroit, but just to make sure we weren't completely overcome by the tranformation, someone threw in a murder for good measure. That's more like it.

I also hoo-ha'ed and actually watched the game for the first time since '99, because I felt obligated and had hopes for good commercials. I *really* miss the 49ers.
